So far, we know very little about George Bloomfield, as his service record has yet to be indentfied. The Thetford & Watton Times of Saturday December 5th, 1914 includes him in the list of Weeting men who were "East Anglians on Active Service".

There are two further entries about George in the local paper. On Jun 19 1915:

A letter has been received by Mr & Mrs Chinn from Private Bloomfield informing them that he is in hospital in this country having been wounded in two places in one arm. Before enlisting he was employed as a gatekeeper at Brandon railway station.

And on April 8 1916: Private George Bloomfield has again been wounded, making the third time within less than a year. He is in hospital in Guildford.
