The Foss Dyke
The Foss Dyke is a boundary ditch that divides the parish of Weeting from Hockwold, then continues north until it reaches the River Wissey.
Although the southern-most part has been shown to overlie Roman relics - and is persumed to be of Saxon date, there is evidence that the Saxons re-used an existing defensive line.
Access
Much of the dyke runs over private land, or land with restricted access. It can be seen clearly where it crosses the byway known as Belevedere Lane. A more impressive lenght can be seen on Forestry Comission land just to the north of Weeting parish.
